Assess Your Strategic Planning Process - A 10 pt. Check

Reflect on the following questions to consider the current state of strategic planning in your organization. Are there ways you would like to improve your process as well as your plan?

  1. Does your business have a statement of vision, mission and values that accurately reflects your current position? Is it reviewed and updated annually?
  2. Does your vision, mission and values drive the daily focus of work for your business?
  3. Does everyone in your company know the mission statement?
  4. Does your strategic planning process build enthusiasm, collaboration, synergy, cohesiveness and trust for teamwork?
  5. Does your Plan focus resources on achieving targeted annual objectives and planning for future business needs?
  6. Does your Plan build on strengths and address weaknesses that could create risk?
  7. Is your Plan a living document that drives the success of your organization?
  8. Is your Plan created with input from your Senior Executive Team and/or Board, as well as representatives of all key stakeholder groups?
  9. Do leaders and employees at all levels provide input and focus available resources on the annual objectives for your Plan?
  10. Are individuals, teams and departments held accountable for their individual and collective contribution to Plan objectives?
